Some view Project Management as a profession, others view it as necessary “soft” skill. Regardless of your perspective, it is undeniable that Project Management gaining more momentum and traction as a discipline. By nature, Small – Medium Enterprises are involved in projects day to day. SMEs represent 48% of Singapore’s GDP and forms 99% of all Enterprises in Singapore (UOB, 2017). As a business owner of an SME, do you perceive Project Management as a necessary skill for running an SME? Attend Project Management for Entrepreneurs and discover your answer to the question.
This event aims to address the relevance and importance of Project Management to Small and Medium business. Project Management for Entrepreneurs is an event organized by the Project Management Association of Singapore (PMAS) Young Crew.
The intended audience of this event are:
Project Managers, Business Owners & senior executives of SMEs, Entrepreneurs, Young Working Adults and Aspiring entrepreneurs.
- Debunking myths that Project Management is not useful or relevant for SMEs
- Explain the benefits of employing Project Management from the early stages of the organisations’ life cycle
- Introduction of the PMAS
About the Speakers
Ian is the owner and founder of Thinkingitbetter Ltd, and is a passionate and highly engaging speaker. Ian’s background is working in industrial and project environments for over 25 years, holding a range of senior roles including Head of Project and Programme Management for Rolls-Royce Civil Aerospace; working to set up and develop the project management capability of a German owned SME; modifying and subsequently managing operations facilities in low volume specialist vehicle production; Operations Management for a manufacturer of capital CNC equipment – and all of these in a range of different markets – subcontract sector, shoe making machinery, “off road” material handling vehicles, aerospace.
Ian has also served 10 years as a Special Police Constable and in that time received Chief Constables Commendations for contributions to training. Over time Ian has developed a passion for helping others improve by looking at and understanding how we react to our circumstances. Ian works with people and teams to “think things better”. Ian focuses on ‘practical application’ of knowledge and helps individuals and teams develop their own strategies for success by helping them understand how they can develop the right ‘thinking’ and ‘habits’.
Ian delivers Keynotes and Behavioural Workshops for Project Leaders in the MSc in Project Management at the University of Manchester, and University of Warwick, and has worked with Aerospace, Automotive and Industrial Clients to develop blended technical and behavioural development courses. Ian has also worked with Derbyshire Sports Partnership to coach Project Leaders in delivering Government Funded Projects.
Also in the sporting field, working with UK Athletics running campaigns in Derbyshire; and with Motor Racing clients as a mindset coach. Ian has developed, and his team continues to deliver, all the Integrated Project Team Leader training for Rolls-Royce Aerospace, and has designed and delivered a range of bespoke interventions for clients including ‘Go-Look-See Awareness’, ‘Communications Workshops’, ‘Leading projects workshops’ to ‘Project Leadership for Infrastructure Projects’ , and ‘business transformation workshop programmes’ – all of which have received excellent feedback and results
Jen Jee currently runs his own Project Management Consultancy, DotProjects and is a keen practitioner in the construction industry with close to 22 years of experience. He holds a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from the National University of Singapore. He obtained his Project Management Professional (PMP®) credential in 2008, followed by the Program Management Professional (PgMP®) credential in 2010. He then further pursued an area in Risk Management specialisation, leading to his attaining the PMI-Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP®) in 2013. In 2018, Jen Jee achieved his Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP®) certification and recently, IPMA Level A® Certified Portfolio Director.
Jen Jee started his career in engineering development and has traversed various organisations having worked from start-ups to large multi-nationals as well as government agencies. His experiences span hotel-leisure, industrial, education, research, IT/data centers, commercial fit-out sectors. He has also helmed Project Management businesses at country and regional levels with international consultancy firms.
His years of experience in projects of differing scale and difficulty puts him in a unique position to deliver complex projects using sound principles with the right mix of practicality. A proven leader, he is well-respected in the industry.

We seek to promote project management methodology through active exchange and development of project-based and academic knowledge between professionals in all fields of project management.
